This Cablenet - measuring approximately 14.4 m x 10.2 m - was installed at LIPA’s 6th Form College, enabling teaching staff and 16-18-year-old pupils to access the overstage area.
The tension wire grid is housed in a new-build steel framed studio theatre and involved the installation of just short of 4.5km of wire rope. An integral requirement of the design was that the grid could allow equipment to be transferred from below to a position above it. A section was therefore created in the grid that could be easily removed, with all associated safety requirements being addressed.
Throughout the installation the Slingco design and installation teams worked closely with the main contractors for the project, Kier Northern.
We can install Cablenet in new buildings or retro-fit to old; we can construct it in virtually any size or shape; and, using the experience we’ve gained since first introducing the system more than 20 years ago, we can design it to provide an economical solution to even the most challenging of building layouts.
